70s. here is sal. >>> steve, good morning. for the most part our commute is starting off well as we look at the interstate 80 commute. right to the bay bridge toll plaza. it is nice and light and there are no major problems there. we have a problem in the south bay. i want to put it on the map here. we have a hard closure because of a fatal accident. a sig alert has been issued. let's go to janine de la vega who is live at the scene on the freeway here. j phone. >> yes, i'men the right hand shoulder of the northbound lanes of 680 where only one lane is open. two lanes are closed so that chp can conduct their investigation of this fatal accident that has happened that left as construction worker dead. his coworker is injured and another man has serious injuries. the chp just told us told us two construction worker were working on the shoulder they were hit by a silver knee son. what they were doing is moving one of those road work ahead signs. the gentleman that passed away he was pinned against his own work truck. he is also a contacted worker. the driver of that silver nissan is at
. steve, the weather changing any? >> yes, it is. mondays high today 58 to 64 but that is not the bigger story. it will be the cloud cover finally working its way in here. pretty decent system right there. its tapped in moisture right there near hawaii. today we start off with patchy fog but very, very cool readings. 39 for napa. now a lot of 40s. livermore looking at 44 degrees. we will go for 63. 62 by 2:00. it will be cloudy. it cloud up here early in the afternoon. temperatures will definitely start total. san francisco not much different. 58 for a high today. it will start off with a little bit of sun but then it will get cloudy. increasing clouds. a little bit of patchy fog. generally some sun in the morning and clouds in the afternoon. rain by late this afternoon and leavening. rain to the north. highs today 50s and 60s and getting cloudy. here is sal. >>> steve, we are looking at the commute and for the most port it is nice. we do have that one major problem. let's start off with the toll plaza first. the traffic will be looking okay if you are driving approaching the toll plaza.
light rain out there, sal of course watching the roads for you, but first let's start with steve pallson, what do you see? >> i see a little bit of rain towards santa rosa and the russian river. otherwise it's cloudy. most locations say cloudy, a little bit of rain, some of it not showing up on the radar. it's below the radar beam and we'll continue to see just -- forestville has picked up 15/100 and santa rosa a tenth in 24 hours. it's a little bit. there is good rain to the north. it's definitely up towards the northern part of the state and there's a good stream of moisture taking aim at us today. a lot of that has to work its way in. favor the north bay maybe for the morning even though that's not much. you can see this cloud cover streaming in. later on for the morning commute, most people will not get rain on them. 50s on the temps and i don't expect those to change at all. there's plenty of moisture moving in. i wish there was a little more forcing or lift in the atmosphere, that would help, but north, yes, you get some rain. otherwise south bay may have to wait a long, long time.

castanedo is keeping an eye on the slick roads. we begin with meteorologist, steve paulson. >> all right, tori. thank you. >>> well, as you know, this year has been bone-dry. we'll take any rain we can get. there's a little bit moving through. not a lot. these un-- unfortunately, it's not continue use. these are just bands. in marin county, napa county, very light kind of intermittent. it's heading towards over san pablo bay and towards concord, east bay, highway 4. again, there's not a lot here. you see the light green. this is kind of a mist. maybe might goat a pocket or two. vallejo has had .01. duncan mills, it's been raining off and on lightly for about two hours. it looks like they are on a little bit of a break. but the russian river, all of that rain sometimes doesn't show up on the river. there is a lot of cloud cover. unfortunately, you know when you got a good front. this is not a good front. it's a lot of overrunning rain. we don't have the lift to give us a good rainfall. it can stack up if it continues and that that would be the face to the north. a lot of 50s to the north
am dave clark. how cold will it be, steve? >> well, some areas are not mad at all. a couple high clouds may make it to the north, but mostly sunny today. 40s to 60s in livermore. the breezes are way up there. 60s for the most part for a high today. high clouds in the north. breezy in the hills. not as bad as yesterday. temperatures will inch upwards. kind of tough this time of year. the benefit of a north wind helping a few locations. if you are already starting off near 60 degrees, as long as that breeze holds, low to mid 70s. 60s by the bay. here is sal. >>> good morning, steve and everybody. we are looking at the commute and it looks good if you are driving in many areas enforcement major problems except for one, the livermore valley if you are coming in from the tracy triangle there. is a crash there. it has been there for at least a half hour. traffic is going to be slow coming in. they had all the freeway blocked for a brief time. the three right lanes were blocked for almost the entire half hour to 40 minutes now. we are inviting to you take extra time for your commut
. upper 50s and low 60s. here is sal. >>> steve, its going to be a rough one out there. a lot of wet roads and a lot of slippery conditions. we've had a bunch of fender benders out there. the latest one being southbound 880. a car ran off the road into the mud. somewhat of a minor crash. however they have to shut that off ramp down to get that car out of there. we have a crash here 98th and international where they called several medics to the scene. it looks like they are getting a handle on it. san francisco east 80 at seventh there is a crash right near where there was flooding. they are trying to get it out of the way. there is already a little bit of slow traffic on northbound 101 trying to get on to that lower deck of the bay bridge. at 5:02 let's go to live pictures. this is a look at the bay bridge. it is light. and no problems in san jose. this is a look at 80 westbound. that is is a nice drive. let's go back to the desk. >>> the wet weather is still causing big problems. pg&e crews have been busy all night restoring power to bay area homes and businesses. janine de la vega is in

obama to extend those policies as his team works out the bugs in the affordable care act. steve large is in sacramento. now, steve, california is not going to help the white house. and this could affect hundreds of thousands of people. >> reporter: well, "covered california" essentially voted to stay the course. they are not going to allow those who are facing their policies to be terminated january 1 any type of extension. there was a chance of a one- year extension. the vote was unanimously by the "covered california" board 5-0. and, of course, this comes as president obama has been facing backlash after telling americans they could keep their healthcare insurance if they wanted. it turns out that's not true. one of the critics of this vote today happened to be the state insurance commissioner dave jones who says that this is a disservice to policyholders. now, bottom line here, after this vote today, i can tell you that there are 900,000 californians who have received cancellation notices. some of those people will be able to get some type of subsidy to get them into a "covered cal

by tomorrow. the driest year ever. look for temperatures in the 50s and 60s. here's sal. >>> steve, good morning. we're looking at a commute that's just average. some areas are not doing well. but others are better. it's kind of averaging out into an okay commute. for example, if you look at 880 here, it's looking pretty good near the coliseum heading up to downtown oakland. when you get to the bay bridge, we don't have a super-huge backup. it's backed up for a little bit. the 880 ramps are the best way to get there, especially if you have fastrack, you will be able to bypass a lot of that traffic. 580, that's a different story. 580 in livermore has been slow the entire way from the altamont pass all the way through. we had a crash on 680. that has traffic backed up into san ramon, heading south towards pleasanton. it gets better if you are on the road after pleasanton. but the traffic is not that bad on 680 and fremont. 101 southbound near belmont we've had a series of collisions. 7:03. back to the desk. >>> all right. thank you, sal. >>> police in santa rosa are asking for the public's
